LIB Dem councillors have criticised their opponents attempts to highlight the activities of senior members, warning it would be a 'stalkers' charter'.

Senior Tory Cllr Stephen Godfrey asked for details of all meetings held by Cabinet members.

The meetings of the eight Cabinet members since the start of September took up three A4 pages.

Council leader Lucille Thompson said: "It has taken 10 hours of officer time to put together these complicated schedules. It is a huge waste of officers' time. If you think it is a good thing for officers to be doing this, I don't. You (Cllr Godfrey) seem to have an unhealthy obsession with Cabinet members' diaries. If you want to know what people are doing, ring the secretariat."

Cllr Thompson said she would not publish details of Cabinet members' external meetings.

"In the current febrile atmosphere that surrounds politicians it would be nothing short of a stalkers' charter to do so and could leave Cabinet members and members of these organisations vulnerable.

"Indeed advice given by local police only this week is that even tweeting about where we are and who we are meeting is not advised."
