PERSISTENT rain could cause transport disruptions across the South on Thursday, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning has been issued across a huge mass of the country.

The warning will be in force from midnight to 11.45pm on Thursday.

The Met Office says flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely, with persistent rain, and bus and train services affected with longer journey times.

According to The Met Office, Southampton will see heavy rain from midnight to 3am.

Light, persistent rain will then affect the city from 3am to 12pm.

It will then be cloudy from 3pm to 9pm.

Friday is expected to be dry and cloudy.

Temperatures will range between 8C and 10C this week.
