A WINCHESTER man has been convicted of criminal damage: by writing "useless load of idiots" on a sign in a police station.
Paul Mark Mydlarz, 64, was at Basingstoke Police Investigation Centre on July 20 when he damaged the sign, the town magistrates court was told.
Mydlarz, of May Tree Close, Badger Farm, pleaded guilty to criminal damage and also to criminal damage to a cell toilet the previous day. The damage was estimated at £138.26.
He also admitted between July 5-11 sending a threatening letter to Police Sergeant Heidi Bruek in Winchester. The court heard it was indecent, grossly offensive and racially motivated.
Magistrates fined him £120, ordered he pay £75 compensation to PS Bruek and £100 for the cell toilet with a £32 victim surcharge and £50 costs.
