A ROMSEY schoolboy has become world champion in a kickboxing championship.
Harry Meader, who attends the Mountbatten School, joined Team GB at the WFMC World Championships in Germany in which he won his category to become world champion.
Harry took part in the bout and won 10 points clear in the second round.
The 15-year-old started kickboxing when he was just five, with Humphrey Broomes at the Independent Martial Arts Organisation.
He then joined Martin Binge at Hythe Dragons Martial Arts Academy who took him to another level, winning lots of national championships and two years ago he scooped Silver at the WFMC World Championships.
Harry's dad, Simon Meader, said: "I am extremely proud of Harry and watching him win was an emotional moment.
"I was so excited for him, it is a great achievement and such a proud moment."
Harry took part in the under 70kg category and weighing in at just 61.5kg, he still took the step up from under 65kg.
The 41-year-old added: "Harry couldn't have been much happier - he had a break last year from the competition and trained very hard for this year's competition."
Harry is planning on carrying on with his fighting, he has a few more national championship fights this year.
