THE dangers of relying on sat navs was shown last night in Winchester city centre.
A heavy goods vehicle got stuck on The Broadway trying to turn left into Colebrook Street at around 5.45pm.
The driver of the Hallmark articulated lorry told passers-by he was trying to make a delivery to the back entrance of Boots on The Square and that sat nav had told him the best route.
A member of the public helped the driver by directing its reversing down The Broadway and into the bus station, disrupting the rush-hour flow of buses and cars for around ten minutes.
The lorry was last seen rumbling off up Eastgate Street but it was unclear why someone thought it a good idea to make a delivery on a Friday evening at rush hour in a six-axle articulated lorry in Winchester. Its historic narrow streets are well-known.
