AN ANIMAL charity are appealing for imformation after three rabbits were found dumped in Hampshire woodlands.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after three rabbits were found on Barton’s Lane in Lychpit, Basingstoke on Tuesday afternoon.

Two rabbits were found in a wooded area next to the road, in an area locally known as ‘rabbit wood’. Another rabbit was then found nearby.

RSPCA inspector Jan Edwards said: “These poor rabbits must have been terrified as they are clearly domesticated animals.

“They are all very similar in type so they must have come from the same place.

"There are two females and one male, all lion head cross type and all seem to be in good condition other than overgrown nails.

“There was a pile of shavings on the ground where they were found so it seems likely they have been tipped out of a box or hutch before being left.

“It may be that they are unwanted pets but abandoning an animal is never the answer - there is help available if you are struggling to cope.

“This is a popular area for walkers so if anyone does recognise these animals or saw what happened they can contact us in confidence on 0300 123 8018.

“We’d also like to thank the members of the public who found these rabbits and called us so we were able to rescue them before the situation turned worse.”

The rabbits were taken by Jan to a local vets before being transferred to an RSPCA centre.

They will be rehomed if no one comes forward to claim them.
