A CITY centre jewellers was targeted by burglars overnight.
Burrells in High Street, Winchester, was cordoned off by police on Thursday (17.10) morning after the incident.
Windows on the shop front had been smashed in several places and the security shutter was also damaged.
Police said nothing had been reported as stolen at present.
Later in the day hoarding was put up to cover the damaged glass.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "We are investigating a burglary attempt which took place at Burrells on High Street in Winchester.
"Overnight last night (16 October) into the early hours of this morning, damage was caused to the security shutter and a window.
"Nothing has been reported stolen at this time.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44190371218."
