A POLITICIAN visited the heart of Southampton brandishing a Stop Brexit button.

Anthony Hook, Lib Dem MEP for South East England, visited the city's Guildhall, West Marlands Road, to talk to residents about the implications of Brexit and Boris Johnson’s deal.

He visited the University of Southampton, where he spoke with students, the Vice-Chancellor and senior members of staff to discuss what Brexit would mean for them and people living in the south east.

Anthony said: "We are travelling the south east talking to people about what staying in the European Union means. Brexit is the biggest threat to our country since the Second World War."

"We’ve made an emergency button because Brexit can be stopped at any time by revoking Article 50. That’s the only way to exit Brexit.

"The Prime Minister has agreed a deal with the EU. But the deal is a Trojan Horse Brexit.

"It is a thinly disguised attack on our economy, the rights of our workers, our Union and our environmental standards."

He added: “"Liberal Democrats in Westminster and the European Parliament are pushing for a People's Vote, or if a general election is called, we will campaign to revoke Article 50.

"The public deserve to be given the final say on what they want. The deal we have as EU members is better than anything else on offer.

"Brexit has not worked out anything like Johnson promised three and a half years ago."

Anthony was also joined by Lib Dem parliamentary hopeful for Southampton North and Romsey Craig Fletcher.

Anthony said: "His background as a successful businessman in a creative industry and his knowledge as a qualified doctor will make him an outstanding advocate for local people.”
