Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) students recently got the chance to switch off from their studies and discover what is on offer locally in Basingstoke at the annual Freshers’ Fair.

The event, which is designed to welcome students to the college and local area, saw a number of exciting local organisations exhibit at the college including Subway, Stagecoach and Festival Place.

Students also had the opportunity to grab some freebies, discounts and exclusive offers, as well as the chance to challenge their classmates to a duel in an inflatable gladiator arena.

Principal, Anthony Bravo, said: “I would like to thank all of the local organisations who made this event so successful. As well as giving our students the skills and knowledge they need to have a successful future, we also want to ensure our students enjoy their time at BCoT and are able to make the most of the incredible opportunities that are available to them locally in Basingstoke.”

The Freshers’ Fair is one of the many activities the college organises to support students outside of the classroom. Students also have access to an onsite counselling service and nurse, as well as one-to-one careers support and have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of trips and guest speakers.

BCoT is proving to be a popular choice amongst young people across Hampshire. This year the college saw an increase of more than 150 full-time students between the ages of 16 and 18.
