A WINCHESTER restaurant has retained its status as the only Michelin-starred establishment in the city.
The Black Rat in Chesil Street was named in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland for the 10th year in a row.
The restaurant was opened by David Nicholson who made his name by taking on the Black Boy pub in 1995.
A total of 187 Michelin-star businesses were announced in the 2020 guide earlier this week.
The Black Rat had previously operated as a pub in the building, which dates back to at least the 18th century.
As reported by the Chronicle, the restaurant has applied to Winchester City Council to complete a two-storey extension and revamp its kitchen.
The plans were submitted in May, however, a decision is yet to be made by the local authority.
