WINCHESTER University almost dropped out of top 100 in an established national league table.
The university fell from 79th in The Times and The Sunday Times University Guide 2020 to 98th.
The Sparkroad Road-based educational establishment was ranked 14th in the south east, with a student experience rating from the National Student Survey of 78.5 per cent.
Both University of Southampton and Solent University dropped from 18th to 20th and 85th to 89th respectively.
The rankings are comprised using nine indicators including student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects and student/staff ratios.
