A NIGHT club in the city has scrapped plans to extend its opening hours during the start of the academic year.
Vodka Bar in Upper Brook Street had sought permission from Winchester City Council to stay open until 4am Thursday to Saturday and 3.30am Monday to Wednesday for a three-week at the beginning of each university year for "Freshers' events".
However, the council has confirmed the proposal has been withdrawn by the venue, although no reason was given for the decision.
St Michael's ward councillor Fiona Mather had previously written to the Chronicle highlighting concerns for residents and calling for the extended hours not to be granted.
