Steve Moran’s famous winning goal for Saints in 1984 could be shown to the team who face Portsmouth tonight in a bid to motivate them further.
Moran remains a legend at Saints for that goal, which proved to be the last win for the club at Fratton Park.
In a bid to understand the importance of the match and the kind of atmosphere and stadium that awaits, Hasenhuttl has been watching archive footage of derby games and other matches at Fratton Park.
And he might show his team Moran’s goal to try and make them understand how important the game is.
“I like to show videos and it can be we also show them from this one. It would be a good selection,” he smiled.
“I have watched thousands of them. About the atmosphere and the ground and the fans and how they were speaking about this game.
“You can feel this is a historical game and this sport in England is very historic and you feel it in every moment of these games.
“You see how the players celebrate if they score and it’s maybe the most important moment in their life.
“I think modern football is something that makes this game so interesting for everybody because it’s not about money but about being proud of winning this game and every player has to know when he goes on the pitch.”
