THE blizzard of local heritage events in Winchester is set to start tomorrow.

More than 140 events have been organised between Friday September 13 and Sunday September 22.

Running for some 25 years the Heritage Open Days (HOD) event has grown rapidly in the last few years to be the largest of its kind in the country.

Many of the events are sponsored by Winchester College and the school is hosting several over the next ten days.

All the events are free but several need to be booked.

The festival, organised by Nicky Gottlieb and Becky Brown, has several themes:

People Power - national HOD theme commemorating the Peterloo massacre which happened 200 years ago.
