FIRE crews rushed to a blaze on a 470 ton boat this morning in Hampshire.

Three engines from Hardley, Beaulieu, and Redbridge attended the incident on Shore Road in Hythe at 10.18am.

The boat was - that was 54m in length and 470 tonnes - had a fire in the hull caused by hot works involving paint thinners and rubber.

Two jets, one high pressure hose reel, and two breathing apparatus’ were used to extinguish the fire.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: "The call came in at 10.18am this morning about a boat fire on Shore Road in Hythe.

"Three engines from Hardley, Beaulieu, and Redbridge attended.

"A ship had a fire in the hull caused by hot works involving paint thinners and rubber.

"The stop message came in at 11.36am."
