A SOUTHAMPTON man caught dodging a £15 train fare has been slapped with a £400 court bill.
Ryan Godwin travelled on a South Western Railway service at Basingstoke Station, without paying a £15.90 fare.
Portsmouth Magistrates' Court heard he intended to avoid the payment of the fare.
Godwin, 22, of Hill Street, Southampton, did not attend the case.
But he was found guilty in his absence.
He was fined £220, ordered to pay court costs of £160 and a victim surcharge of £30.
Godwin was also ordered to pay compensation of £15.90 to South Western Railway.
