THE final of reality television series Love Island will be hitting a large cinema screen in the city this month.

Showcase Cinema De Lux, based at Southampton Westquay, are hosting a free event to play the last show of the year as part of plans to open up all of their national cinemas for the anticipated night.

Before your head gets turned by another TV series, you can enjoy the show in the evening of Monday July 29 when the big finale begins at 9pm.

The eight-week series has been shown on ITV2 every night since June 3, except Saturdays, and is based on people coupling up while they are given tests and challenges - including separating all pairs from each other for a few days - with the aim for a couple who remain together and receive the most votes to eventually win the show.

The 2019 final will include interviews with the three runners-up and the winning couple - who will choose whether they want to choose 'love' or 'money'.

The twist is that whoever chooses money will walk away with the full winning prize of 50K, but if they both choose love, then they split the money between them.

Last year's finale saw Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer split the prize, who each went home with 25K each.

It is expected to come to an end at 10.35pm, but it is what it is, as the Islanders would say.

Mark Barlow, general manager for Showcase Cinemas UK, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be screening the final of Love Island 2019 for free at Showcase Cinemas.

"We are inviting the nation’s most loyal Love Island fans to experience the dramatic finale on the big screen.

He added: "Tickets are expected to be in high demand, so reserve before they run out."

Tickets can be reserved from the cinema box office for collection on the night of the screening, but reserved tickets that are not collected 20 minutes before the TV broadcast may be allocated to other customers, due to the popularity of the show.
