A PEDESTRIAN has died in hospital after a serious collision on a Hampshire road.

The man, 37, was involved in a collision with a van on the A31, near Alton.

The incident took place near to the Chawton roundabout, at around 1.20am on July 2.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital.

He died a short time later.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The van involved was a white Mercedes Sprinter van.

The driver, a 55-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

Investigations into the collision are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been travelling in that area at the time of the incident.
