A SOUTHAMPTON curry house has reached the finals of a national competition to find the country’s best Indian restaurant.

Kuti’s Brasserie has won a place at the grand final of the Tiffin Cup 2019.

The Southampton restaurant is one of 13 National Finalists in the prestigious competition.

The competition is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.

The Tiffin Cup winner is chosen from a list of restaurants that have been nominated by local MPs.

Kuti’s Brasserie was nominated by Southampton Itchen Conservative MP Royston Smith.

The grand final of the Tiffin Cup 2019 is to be held in the House of Commons today (June 2).

Royston said: “I am delighted that Kuti’s Brasserie has made it into the final of the Tiffin Cup 2019.

“This is such a prestigious award and I wish Kuti’s Brasserie good luck, I am sure everyone in Southampton will be rooting for our restaurant to be crowned the 2019 champion.”

Chef Ravi Rao will travel with owner Kuti Miah and his team to the House of Commons in order to take part in the final of the prestigious South Asian cooking competition.

Kuti said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been invited to the final of the Tiffin Cup.

“We look forward to showing the judges what we can do, and hope to make Southampton proud.”

Keith Vaz MP, the chair of the Tiffin Club added: “We are delighted that Kuti’s Brasserie has beaten extremely stiff competition in order to become one of the finalists of the Tiffin Cup on 2nd July 2019.

“This is a great tribute not just to the nomination of Kuti’s Brasserie but also to the constituency of Southampton Itchen as a whole.

“We wish them the very best luck for the final.”

This year 70 restaurants were nominated by their MPs.
