DETECTIVES investigating a murder in Andover have named the victim.

Lucy Rushton, also known as Lucy Dyson, 30, of Suffolk Road, Andover, was found inside an address in Suffolk Road and was later pronounced dead.

Police were called shortly after 5.30am on Sunday, June 23, following the death of a woman.

Following a post mortem examination it was confirmed that Lucy died as a result of multiple injuries.

The woman’s next-of-kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

A 28-year-old man from Andover has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Detectives are now appealing for information as part of an investigation into the murder.

Detective chief inspector John McGonigle said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries so you will see a significant policing presence in the community.

“We understand that this news will be very upsetting for those living in the area, but I would like to reassure you that our officers are in the area conducting searches, carrying out house-to-house enquiries and following several lines of enquiry."
