FIVE schools share the spoils at the Winchester Primary Schools Swimming Gala
Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club hosted the 19th gala, attended by 27 schools and 280 children from across the district.
Mike Fisher, from Penguins, said: “We are immensely proud of our involvement in the Primary Schools Gala. It is a great example of the way that a not-for-profit sports club can show leadership in the local sporting landscape and bring together a variety of private and public sector organisations to create a brilliant community event.”
Flynn Lord and Alice Wan secured top spots in the 25-metre individual events for St Faiths and St Swithuns respectively. In the 25m mixed stroke relay, St Swithuns and Twyford School topped the podium, whilst St Faith’s boys, and Sherbourne House girls, were victorious in the Invitational finals. In the final events of the day, Twyford School (boys) and Bishops Waltham (girls) triumphed in the freestyle relay events. Awards were handed-out by the new Mayor, Eleanor Bell, Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, Malcolm Prince and other invited dignitaries.
