WINCHESTER Hospice Appeal has been boosted by a substantial donation from the city’s Rotary.

A cheque for £40,000 has been handed over to the fundraisers seeking to raise money to convert Burrell House on Romsey Road.

At the beginning of his term of office as President of Winchester Rotary last July, Les Haswell made the Winchester Hospice Appeal his main charity.

Hampshire Chronicle:

The club is delighted to announce, that following a very successful year of fundraising, a cheque for £40,000 was recently handed over to the Hospice team.

The major event of the year was a Masquerade Ball at the Guildhall in December, which raised over £24,000.

Last August, a group of hardy members and friends successfully scaled Snowdon in atrocious weather conditions, raising £10,000.

A number of smaller events, including a private view at the Whitewall Gallery also contributed to the success.

Winchester Rotary’s support for the Hospice will continue and a number of projects are in the pipeline.
