HERE is the moment a 7ft-long 2,000lb German sea mine was detonated off The Needles.
Fishermen got a shock when they caught the ordnance in their nets.
Yesterday, the Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team carried out a controlled explosion.
HM Naval Base Portsmouth said:" Our bomb disposal experts Southern Diving Unit 2 have done it again.
"Called out yesterday to a 2,000lb German sea mine dredged up by a fishing vessel three nautical miles off the Isle of Wight coast.
"They safely placed it back on the seabed and carried out a controlled explosion this morning.
"At 7ft long and 26ins wide it was still carrying much of its original explosive material so it created quite a splash.
"Happy Sunday everyone, hope yours also started with a BOOM!"
