WINCHESTER Musicals and Opera Society take to the stage for their production of Made in Dagenham at the Theatre Royal Winchester.

Made in Dagenham is a musical based on the 2010 film of the same name. It's drawn from the real-life 1968 sewing machinists strike at the Ford factory in Dagenham, Essex.

Rita O’Grady is a machinist and working mother who becomes the leader of the movement to have the women of the Ford factory paid equally to their male counterparts. The musical follows the strike into both Rita's home as the industrial action affects her family life and into the lives of others at Ford Dagenham.

Featuring a rousing score, as well as a funny heart-warming story, Made in Dagenham is an inspiring tale of solidarity.

The production has seen a fantastic partnership between the society and Ford Hendy in Winnall. Jon Seyfang, general manager at the Winchester branch, said: "Hendy Ford Winchester are delighted to be associated with Winchester Musical and Opera Society and to have the opportunity to support their forthcoming production of Made in Dagenham. This wonderful story is as relevant today as ever and is synonymous with Ford Motor Company, and as their first dealer in the UK we also have a long standing association with the brand."

Made in Dagenham will be on at the Theatre Royal Winchester between May 22-25.

The society will be collecting money towards The Wessex Cancer Trust throughout the run.

Tickets are available now from the theatre’s website. You can find out more about the show my visiting the society’s website (www.wmos.org.uk) and following them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
