A PARISH councillor has said he has mixed feelings about the results of a litter pick after there was decline in the amount of litter, but an increase in fly-tipped waste.
Cllr Alistair Ward-Boughton-Leigh joined volunteers in the Itchen Valley for the spring clean to tidy up the area.
Cllr Ward-Boughton-Leigh said: “We had a fantastic event at the weekend, even an increase in volunteers from last year which was amazing.
“The two big differences were firstly and positively that there was much less litter.
“Secondly, and not so positively, there was much more fly-tipped material.”
Organisers of the annual spring clean said more than thirty bin bags were filled during the day, with groups heading out in Martyr Worthy, Easton, Itchen Abbas and Avington.
Member’s from the WI group were on hand to provide refreshments.
