POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 64-year-old man was assaulted in Gosport.

The victim was walking along Rowner Road when he was approached by a man, who punched him in the face before kicking him as he lay on the ground.

His attacker then got into a white car with two other people before driving off towards the junction with Gorselands Way.

The victim sustained a cut to his forehead in the assault.

His assailant is described as white, aged between 20 and 30, about 6ft, average build with short dark hair. He was wearing dark trousers, dark shoes and a dark jacket with reflective markings on both sleeves.

The assault took place just before 10pm last Friday.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the Rowner Road area at the time and saw what happened.
