A BURGLAR has been jailed for more than four years after committing offences across Hampshire.
Liam Barry Whittaker, 25, of Bedford Street in Southsea, targeted properties in Whiteley and Portsmouth.
In March last year jewellery and electrical items were stolen from a home on Clarence Parade, Southsea, after the front door was kicked in.
Last month two cars and a handbag were stolen from a home on Hanoverian Way in Whiteley.
Whittaker was arrested after he was caught on CCTV using bank cards taken during the Whiteley burglary and one of the stolen cars was recovered.
He admitted a number of offences, including both burglaries and using the stolen cards.
At Portsmouth Crown Court he was sentenced to a total of four years and eight months, including two years and four months for each burglary, to be served consecutively.
Whittaker was also sentenced to concurrent terms for the other offences he admitted.
PC Charlotte Pocock said: “The sentences reflect the seriousness of Whittaker’s offending. I hope this brings some closure to his victims as burglary can have a dramatic effect on victims and their families."
