SIR: Congratulations and thanks for your forthright defence of the role of yourself and colleagues in our society (Hampshire Chronicle, February 14).
You are absolutely right to stress that public scrutiny of major city council projects is essential and the Chronicle is a vital source of information in this process. I can appreciate how difficult it can be to present a balanced view between the strongly expressed views on these topics and I often admire your ability to do so.
Your newspaper is one of the finest things about this city and long may you be able to continue your work.
