The Winchester Business Excellence Awards are organised in partnership by The Hampshire Chronicle, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and Winchester BID and was open to businesses within the Winchester District.  The nomination process has now closed.

The awards culminate in an awards ceremony, taking place on Thursday 6th June at the University of Winchester . The event has long been recognised as a key date in the business calendar of the district, and those companies lucky enough to be become a WBEA finalists will receive two tickets to the awards ceremony and dinner.  If you are not a lucky finalist then you can purchase tickets by clicking here

The WBEA awards will be presented by Jeremy Edwards and the speaker this year is Shappi Khorsandi.  Shappi who received an honorary doctorate from the University of Winchester for her contribution to the arts and recently received the prestigious James Joyce award from Dublin University established herself as one of the country’s finest comedians in 2006 with her sell out Edinburgh show, Asylum Speaker.  This show lead to the publication of her childhood memoirs, “A Beginner’s Guide To Acting English“, her best selling literary debut.  In typical Shappi style, this show told the story of how her family were forced to flee Iran and gain asylum in the UK.

Shappi’s career has taken her to all corners of the globe, she has appeared on countless TV and Radio shows,  and has recently been commissioned to write a drama script for BBC Television.. She is proud of being a “spit & sawdust” standup & one of her favourite things is pulling on her wellies, trudging through muddy fields, and performing at every music festival which has a comedy tent – from Glastonbury to Wilderness Festival.”

Created at Winchester Distillery, our small batch craft gin combines ten botanicals including locally grown watercress to create a spirit that is intense, fragrant and very refreshing.

The watercress adds sweet herbaceous notes and a peppery sparkle to the finish that lifts a gin and tonic to new heights.

The Romans knew watercress as Nasturtium, meaning “twisted nose”, from which our gin takes its name.

Serve with a good tonic and twist of pink grapefruit for the perfect gin and tonic or with Vermouth for an amazing Martini.
