THE next South Wonston Village Cinema event will be held in the Village Hall this Saturday (February 16), showing Peterloo.

The Mike Leigh film tells the story of the infamous 1819 massacre by the military of people at a peaceful pro-democracy rally at St Peter’s Field in Manchester.

Tickets cost £5 each and can be purchased from South Wonston Stores, or by calling David Selby on 01962 881796.

Entry on the door will cost £6.

THE South Wonston Quiz Night and Raffle has been announced.

It will take place on March 22 at the Village Hall, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive in teams of six, and bring their own drinks and glasses.

Tickets cost £7.50 per head and include a Ploughman’s supper.

Funds raised will go towards a new floor for the Village Hall.

People wishing to donate a raffle prize, or would like to take part, should call 01962 884088 or 01962 884915.

Others who would like to join in but are unable to raise a team should also call, and arrangements can be made.

THE date for this year’s Norton Park Summer Fete near Sutton Scotney has been unveiled.

It will take place at Norton Park Hotel on May 27 between 1pm and 4pm.

THE next South Wonston Social Club Blues Jam will be on March 4.

It will start at 8.30pm.

A FINAL reminder for the barn dance in Micheldever Station, to celebrate the return of members from Men of Oar.

The group have been completing a sponsored row across the Atlantic in aid of the Bowel Cancer UK and Combat Stress​ charities.

The dance will be held at the Warren Hall at 7.30pm on February 23 and proceeds will be added to the Men of Oar sponsor money.
