St Brigid's School

THE ‘Young Dragons’ is a partnership between many of the uniformed youth organisations in North Wales.

Recently, the groups came together to take part in a first aid competition in Rhyl.

Five young people from St Brigid’s School Combined Cadet Force entered and all had a great learning experience.

There were 22 teams, in three age categories and St Brigid’s entered two U-15 teams of two.

Thomas Clarke (14, from Denbigh) and Scott McKinlay (14, from St Asaph) from Year 10 have been part of the CCF since September 2017 and competed in competitions last year.

They were fifth overall.

Year 9 pupils Alice Grange (13, from Denbigh) and Dominic Azurza (14, from Colwyn Bay) were sixth overall in their first event.

The fifth St Brigid's cadet Adam MacNab, from Year 10, joined up with young adult to compete in the U-23 category.

The improvised team came third overall.

The High Sheriff of Clwyd Lady Hanmer presented certificates to all participants.

The day was an educational experience, which they agreed stood them in a good place for future opportunities.

Thanks go to 2Lt Spiller for taking the team.
