A YOUNG driver from near Alresford has been banned from the road for drink driving.
Alexander Vazie Wells Simons, 20, of The Drove, Lower Wield, was caught at the Thornycroft Roundabout in Basingstoke on New Year's Eve.
His alcohol reading was 51 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 35.
Simons pleaded guilty and was disqualified for 14 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
The ban will be cut by 106 days if he passes an approved course by September 30 2019.
