YOU can “lip-sync for your life” at a Southampton club night inspired by a hit TV series.

How’s Your Head will see the region’s fiercest drag queens compete for a place in your hearts.

Inspired by global TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race the night is run by talent show quarter-finalist Harry Fisher, who wowed the nation with his powerful vocals in 2016’s The Voice.

Now after a stint in London Harry is back in Southampton – and promises to bring the biggest wigs, the highest heels the the fiercest put-downs to city venue Suburbia every Wednesday night.

After starting off last year as a monthly event the night is so popular Harry says clubbers have asked for it to become weekly.

The city’s first Drag Race-inspired club night will include lip-syncing, dancing and comedy from queens including Mary Poppers, the “outlandish” Mileena Wyntrs, 90s supermodel-inspired Yung Bae and Chateau – a French ‘queen’ whose speciality includes Ariana Grande syncing.

RuPaul’s Drag Race wowed international audiences when it first aired in 2009, putting 14 drag queens to the test for the chance to win the season finale grand prize of $100,000.

Now veteran performer RuPaul Charles – whose back catalogue includes 14 solo albums, a hit single with Elton John and appearances in more than 50 TV shows and films – has said this year will see the first edition of a UK Drag Race series, with the winner crowned “the queen of Great Britain”.

Harry said: “I was living in London and went to the most crazy places, and saw the most amazing queer art, and just wanted to bring some of it back to Southampton.

“I thought Southampton really lacked a really crazy drag-themed night.

“We have The Edge which is really brilliant but this is for anyone who wants to get on stage and perform.”

And he is so committed to the cause he has even taking to dragging up himself, inspired by his hero Dolly Parton.

Harry’s alter ego Dolly Rocker will take to the stage whenever she is needed - but will “sashay away” to make room for other performers.

“I realised if I book someone and they call in sick I might have to step in myself – but I love it.” Harry said.

He is also calling on his friends in the business for support, and has had a big “thumbs up” from former The Voice mentor Boy George who chose Harry for his team when the Rownhams singer auditioned on the show.

It takes place every Wednesday night at Suburbia.
