HAMPSHIRE residents are waking up to find parts of the county covered in snow this morning.

It comes as the Met Office predicted snow fall last night, issuing an amber warning for parts of the county.

Areas to the west of Hampshire, particularly the New Forest, have been hit hardest.

Neighbouring Dorset and areas further west have been some of the worst hit.

Yesterday, the Met Office upgraded a yellow warning to amber ahead of the forecast snow.

The amber warning, which covered the west of the county, has now been moved to the north of the county and London.

A yellow warning now covers Southampton and the rest of Hampshire, and is set to remain in place today.
