A 17-YEAR-OLD girl is in a serious condition after being pulled from the water near Itchen Bridge.
The teenager was rescued from water near the bridge yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 2.25pm.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the woman was rescued by a canoeist.
Firefighters treated the woman at the scene before handing her into the care of paramedics. Crews from Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team were also called to the River Itchen.
Hampshire Police said: "We were called to a concern for welfare at the Itchen Bridge at around 2.20pm on Thursday 31 January.
"A 17-year-old girl is in a serious condition and is being treated at Southampton General Hospital.
"We do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances."
