A VILLAGER near Winchester has been banned from the road for 18 months for excessive pre-Christmas drinking.
Harry James Mossman, 27, of Frampton Way, Kings Worthy, was driving a 08-reg VW Golf when stopped and arrested by police on the A34 at Sutton Scotney on December 20.
Magistrates were told his alcohol reading was 72 micrograms when the legal limit is 35 in 100 millilitres of breath. He admitted the charge.
As well as the ban, magistrates fined him £400 with a £40 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
The ban will be cut by 18 weeks if he passes an approved course by February 4 2020.
