TWO Hampshire teenagers are one step away from qualifying for the Miss England 2019 semi-final.
Eleanor Thompson of Winchester and Kelly Ferreira of Eastleigh have reached the last stage of the photo heats and if they qualify, they will secure a place at the penultimate round, which will be a live show, in June.
Kelly, 18, is a front-of-house restaurant worker who plays volleyball in her spare time.
Eleanor, 16, is a student, and has overcome the physical and mental challenges from a broken neck in 2015.
The contestants who reach the semi-final will be participate in a ‘Sports and Eco’ fashion round, where outfits must be made from recycled materials.
The girls must also raise money for the Miss World charity ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ in their spare time.
Director Angie Beasley said: “The competition is much more than a physical beauty contest, the girls are encouraged to be charitable, sporty and an all round good role model.”
The ultimate winner of Miss England 2019 will be invited to raise awareness for various charities and will receive prizes worth £25,000, including a holiday and a place in Miss World.
Public voting closes on February 5 at 12noon. Votes can be placed at https://www.missengland.info/.
