A TRAINEE Winchester doctor has been banned from the road for drink driving.
Dr Gabriel Xavier Sherliker was found to be double the drink drive limit when stopped by police on December 14, magistrates in Basingstoke heard.
Sherliker, 27, of Winnall Manor Road, was arrested whilst driving a Mini on North Walls. A test revealed his alcohol reading was 78 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 35.
The General Medical Council website said Sherliker is a postgraduate on the foundation programme for Health Education Wessex.
He admitted the charge and was fined £736 with a £73 victim surcharge and £85 costs. Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 17 months. The ban will be cut by 17 weeks if he passes an approved driving course by December 9 2019.
