MICHAEL Obafemi has been ruled out for three more weeks with the hamstring injury that he suffered last month.

The 18 year-old has been out since sustaining the injury after the 3-1 win away to Huddersfield on December 22.

But Danny Ings is on course to play against Everton on Saturday.

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said: “Ingsy looks good for the weekend and should start tomorrow with the team for his first training session.

“But Obafemi looks worse and will take longer - three more weeks.”

Saints will be without Obafemi for the Premier League games at home to Everton and Crystal Palace and the six-pointer Burnley, but it is hoped he comes back into contention for Cardiff City’s visit to St Mary’s on February 9.

There is better news regarding Mario Lemina, who has not played since being replaced at half-time during the 3-1 defeat at home to Manchester City on December 30, due to an abdominal injury.

“Mario trained for the first time today, he’s started a few times now but has been getting trouble with the back,” added Hasenhuttl.

Ryan Bertrand is yet to play under Hasenhuttl but is edging back to full match fitness after a minor back operation last month.

“Ryan has had a few good sessions now,” continued Hasenhuttl.

“But training fit is different to match fitness.

“We have to build him up now and get him back in shape and see how quickly he can come back for us.”
