PLANS have been approved to turn a listed coach house into extra accommodation in a village near Winchester.

Winchester City Council has given applicant Felix Holzapfel the go-ahead for the scheme at St Patrick’s, in Carmans Lane, Compton Street.

It will now see the ground floor and loft space converted into a two bedroom annex, with modifications being made to the existing garage accommodation.

According to a design and access statement, produced by Febo Designs, the scheme takes “advantage of the existing construction at ground floor and make use of the loft to accommodate two bedrooms, a bathroom and study at first floor level and a utility area and living space at ground-floor level”.

According to the application, St Patrick’s is a Grade II listed building, with the two-storey 18th century coach house sited in its grounds.

It has been extended and modified several times to accommodate changing needs, said the planning statement.

The plans were approved by city councillors planners at committee without objection.
