A LABOUR peer and former schools minister visited a Winchester college to talk about Brexit.
Peter Symonds students were able to chat and debate with Lord Andrew Adonis on the current implications surrounding the deal.
Lord Adonis started by giving a lecture to a room full of students and then invited them to engage in debate.
He said: “ ‘It was really inspirational. The Winchester sixth formers passionately engaged in the Brexit debate.”
The visit was arranged by politics teacher Jo Thomas.
She said: “We were absolutely delighted to receive Lord Adonis at Peter Symonds for a very enjoyable and animated debate.
“The students asked some insightful and challenging questions and displayed real maturity in considering all opinions.”
One student after the event said: “Lord Adonis came across as very wise in his analysis of the current political situation.
“He was also very humorous and kept the audience interested and he provided an interesting and rare insight into the inner workings of the political world and the second referendum campaign.”
