THE Friends of St Cross Hospital celebrated passing the £100,000 mark in grants made to the almshouse with a reception in the historic Hundred Men’s Hall.
With John Pringle, chairman of the Friends, are Alastair Bruce, Patron, Joy Carter, Winchester University vice-chancellor, Mayor, Cllr Frank Pearson, Victoria Wakefield, patron, and Dr John Crook, consultant archaeologist.
The Friends have raised the money over seven years, through memberships and social events including lectures, outings, lunches and parties.
They would welcome new members; contact the administrator at friends@stcrosshospital.co.uk or via www.friendsofstcrosshospital.com if you would like to support the oldest almshouse in the UK.
