A SUPERCAR has been left badly damaged after a crash on the M3 on Saturday.

The Ferrari was involved in a single-vehicle crash on the southbound carriageway of the motorway, at junction 11 for Winchester.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "We were called at 11.12am to reports of a collision on the M3 southbound near Winchester.

"It was a single-vehicle collision involving a Ferrari. The driver was uninjured.

"The road was closed for a short time to allow recovery of the vehicle, but has since been opened."

A tweet from the Hampshire Roads Policing Unit added: "The roads were especially soaked with loads of standing water around.

"Whilst the insurance bill will be hefty including the damaged barriers, as long as no one is hurt, that's the main thing."

It came ahead of a vehicle fire also on the M3 near Winchester, although it is not thought they are related.

Drivers faced delays of 90 minutes after two lanes were closed southbound shortly before midday, due to the incident between junctions nine (for Winnall) and 11 (for Winchester).
