OVER 21,000 people came together for the sold-out Winchester Round Table bonfire and fireworks display on Saturday evening.
A high percentage of that figure started their evening by the King Alfred statue and followed the torch-lit procession up High Street, led by a marching band.
The procession’s torches lit up the route through the city centre before splitting up at North Walls Recreation Ground.
Mayor of Winchester Cllr Frank Pearson took to the stage shortly after 7pm, where he sang Happy Birthday to the Round Table event, which was celebrating its 60th anniversary.
Cllr Pearson then pushed the button which sent fireworks flying into the bonfire to ignite the structure, before entertainment from dance company Integr8 and the main event, the spectacular fireworks display.
