GRITTERS were due to head out on Hampshire's roads last nights as Hampshire County Council said it was expecting sub-zero temperatures.
Teams were scheduled to treat roads in the north and central areas of the county, while temperatures expected to drop to 3C in Southampton.
A Hampshire Highways statement says: "Road surface temperatures are dropping below freezing in the northern and central domains of Hampshire with hoarfrost also forecasted.
"Our teams are gearing up for salt runs from 7pm tonight on priority 1 routes.
"No action for our southern domains."
