A DAYLIGHT burglary was carried out at a home near Winchester – and police want to hear from people who may have been the victim of similar crimes.

Officers say the incident happened between 2pm and 2.45pm on Thursday, October 11, at a home in Alresford Road, Cheriton.

A downstairs window was smashed before burglars searched one of the bedrooms.

One of the people who lives in the building came home and found a dark-coloured hatchback, similar to a VW Golf or a Polo, and a silver-coloured saloon, thought to be a Mazda, parked on the drive.

Three men were seen with the vehicles.

One was described as white, aged between 18 and 24, clean shaven and with dark eyebrows. He was wearing a dark beanie hat. One of the others was described as white, no more than 30 years old, with a longish face and chiselled features. He was clean shaven with a light coloured crew cut.

The men made their excuses and left, and nothing was stolen.

Sergeant Bethan Wood, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to come forward.

"Were you in the area at the time of the burglary?

"Did you see these vehicles or these men in the area?

"Have you been a victim of a similar crime and not yet reported it to the police?

"If you have any information, please get in touch with us a soon as possible."
