CLIMATE change campaigners in Winchester have launched a search for a new chairman for its board of trustees.

WinACC (Winchester Action on Climate Change) says the new person will aim to inspire sustainable living across the Winchester district.

It comes as the group focuses on a new strategy for its second decade, working with communities, business and public sectors to create a healthier, more fulfilling future for everyone.

Outgoing chairman Dr Tony Stoller said: “I have hugely enjoyed my time over the past four years, and remain strongly committed both to WinACC as an organisation and to its broader aims in terms of combating the effects of climate change.

“However, I am about to take on two major new projects, so it is time to hand over the reins.”

Chairing WinACC needs an average of half to one day a week (including some evening and weekend meetings). The chairman is supported by a vice-chairman and the executive director. The role is voluntary but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed.

For an informal chat, contact Liz Harris, vice-chairman, at liz.harris@winchester.ac.uk or on 01962 826370, or Tom Brenan, WinACC’s executive director, at tom.brenan@winacc.org.uk or on 01962 827083.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday October 3.
