SCARECROWS filled the fields at the Warren Centre on Saturday as the Micheldever Station fete returned.

The event had looked unlikely after it was cancelled last year due to a lack volunteers.

However, organisers put their heads together to bring it back and produced a ‘super fete’ to make up for last year.

Even the weather was on their side - the sun shone and the rain held back.

Visitors participated in various games, with stalls offering activities like a Tombola and a raffle. There was a dog show, local bands played, a bouncy castle and a photography exhibition.

In the afternoon the volunteers hosted a barbecue and stalls offered a wide range of locally sourced food and drink.

Winners for the Micheldever Annual Scarecrow Competition were also announced. Corinne Bolt-Lawrence took the prize with her mermaid.

Pupils from the primary school performed Matilda, with a cast of 18.

To ensure the traditional fete returns next year, the organisers are already seeking volunteers to help.
