A BY-ELECTION is being held after a Winchester city councillor resigned.
Cllr Amber Tresahar, formerly Cllr Thacker, has left her role on the council representing the Upper Meon Valley ward.
The Conservative councillor, who lived in Cheriton, had been due to contest her seat in next year’s local elections.
Voters in the ward will now head to the polls on Thursday, September 20.
Details of the candidates have not yet been announced, with those standing set to be confirmed tomorrow afternoon.
The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, September 4.
The reasons behind Cllr Tresahar’s decision to resign are unclear.
