FIREFIGHTERS have been working throughout the night to bring a barn blaze under control after it caught fire yesterday afternoon.

Crews rushed to the barn in Bighton Hill, Ropley, near Alresford, after reports of the fire at around 3.50pm on Wednesday.

The fire, which a Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said involved a forklift truck before spreading to the barn, is still burning but is under control.

Firefighters from Alton, Winchester, Petersfield, Droxford, Basingstoke, Cosham and Alresford fire stations have been involved in the operation.

Engineers from the electricity board were also called in as the barn, used to store 1,500 hay bales, is near to power cables.
